Applying for the FCA's Regulatory Sandbox

The FCA's Regulatory Sandbox is open to authorised firms, unauthorised firms that require authorisation and technology businesses that are looking to deliver innovation in the UK financial services market.

The FCA's Regulatory Sandbox provides firms with the ability to:

  • Test products and services in a controlled environment
  • Reduce time-to-market at potentially lower cost
  • Identify appropriate consumer protection safeguards to build into new products and services

Sandbox users are expected to have clear objectives and to be able to conduct testing on a small scale, for a limited duration with a limited number of customers. In order to obtain access to the Regulatory Sandbox a proposed product or service must be genuinely innovative, within the FCA’s remit and have a real requirement for testing in a live environment.

How can we support you?

Cosegic has supported over 1,500 successful FCA applications since 2003. We have also supported a number of firms with their application to the FCA's Regulatory Sandbox, a slightly different approach to a regular authorisation, but one which raises a number of potential benefits to those that are eligible.

We can help firms prepare their application to enter the Regulatory Sandbox and help them navigate through to a successful authorisation. Being part of the FCA’s Innovation Hub and/or Regulatory Sandbox cohort has been the start of the regulatory compliance journey for many fintech firms. From our experience of helping firms through the Regulatoy Sandbox and innovation hub, we know the importance of agreeing on testing controls and developing robust compliance policies and procedures which are often ground-breaking. If you aren’t sure whether the Regulatory Sandbox would be the right move for your firm, contact us and speak to one of our experts who will be able to tell you your best route to authorisation.
